Cade is turning 4 tomorrow and we are having some of his good friends over for a party in the morning. The fun & festivities have already begun for him though!
Yesterday was his class party at preschool and Katie watched Callum while I brought snacks and some requested items for the celebration. Cade got to wear a birthday crown the teachers made for him as the class sang "Happy Birthday" and he blew out real candles on a fake cake (a preschool tradition).
They showed a few of Cade's baby pictures and Mrs. Stuart held up former shoes and an outfit to Cade, showing how much he's grown since he was a baby. Lastly, the kids each got a turn to raise their hand and ask Cade a question (ex: Q. What's your favorite book? A. Lightening McQueen, Q. What's your favorite color? A. black). It was really cute. Then Cade got to demonstrate an art project for the rest of the class before they were released to choice time.

In the afternoon, Maureen (aka MoMo) came and picked Cade up for a special birthday outing to
OMSI. Cade's good friend Bridget came along and they had a blast! Cade loved the dinosaur exhibit and MoMo packed snacks and made each of the kids a goody bag for the ride! Bridget's was filled with princess necessities and Cade's had boy stuff: a 3-D dinosaur book, plastic snakes, a beluga whale, and other fun things that have kept him occupied quite a bit since yesterday. She and Guy also gave him a
really cool car that he's been playing with nonstop. It was so fun for him to get to go on an outing without Callum or me. And of course having Bridget & MoMo there made it a great day! I think he felt really grown up getting to go. Having missed his nap (which never happens) he was exhausted in this pic - and he wore the crown the entire time. :)
While he was at OMSI, a package arrived for him and when he opened it he was so excited to find that Grandma and Bumpa had sent him Superman pjs! (His response, "Do you know why they sent me these?" Me: "Why?" Cade: "Because they know I'm a hero." Of course! :) Well, he put them right on with his cape and wore them to Community Group at church and to bed last night. We had mom's group this morning and now the tired boys are both in bed. I'm thinking I will do the same and take a quick nap while I have the chance. The rest of the day will be devoted to cupcake making, cleaning, and other party prep for tomorrow morning! :)

Happy Birthday Cade! Annie, thanks for keeping up your blog so well. I try to browse it at least once a week to see your news. It was also fun to look at your friends' blogs and see some people I knew at GFU.
