Last night we took Cade to the emergency room for the first time. He put a blanket over his head to make Callum laugh and he tripped on the blanket and fell, hitting the sharp corner of the tv stand-turned-end table in our living. (Yes, he managed to find one of the only sharp corners in the house and ram his head into it). It was a little after 7pm and Kevin had left minutes before for his All-star softball awards ceremony and final game. (Kevin was nominated by his softball team at Xerox to play at this special All Stars game last night and we were about to head out to meet him there as well). Unfortunately he did not get to play afterall! I called him (while I was holding a screaming Cade and trying to apply pressure to his bleeding forehead) to have him come right home. Blood was a
ll over his clothes, my clothes...it was not pretty...it was pretty scary actually. I called 911 and they got here really fast to check him out. They said the gash went to the skull (full penetration) but he looked alright enough to go with us to the emergency room so he didn't need to ride in the ambulance (side note: not that it would've mattered, but not having him transported in the ambulance saved us about $1000 - and we live about five minutes away). We were home (a big blessing was he didn't need stitches as the EMT thought, they were able to heal it with this special glue). We checked on him through the night and he is fine today - we're all laying low and giving tylenol as needed. It was nice that Tim & Karen are in town (Daniel's parents). Tim's a doctor so he was reassuring to talk to. UPDATE: The pic of him drawing is the morning after and the other is two weeks later. The cement "stitch" worked well for us!
